When the Township declares that a “snow emergency is in effect”,
what does this mean to me?

In order to facilitate the movement of traffic and to combat the hazards of snow and ice on snow emergency routes parking restrictions and vehicle tire specifications are enforced for these routes.

After any snow emergency is declared, it shall be unlawful, at any time during the continuance of the emergency, for any person:

  • To park a motor vehicle or to allow that vehicle to remain parked anywhere on any snow emergency route designated pursuant to this article; or
  • To drive any motor vehicle on any such snow emergency route unless that vehicle is equipped with snow tires or chains.

Ordinance 312 states that it is not lawful for snow and/or ice to be placed on the roadway of any public road, street, or alley.

As a reminder, parking on a cul-de-sac is prohibited at all times ( 320-21).

Be sure to move sporting equipment (portable basketball units, etc.) far from the edge of road/street.
