Chester County Bridge CLOSED on West Cedarville Road

The Eckers Run Bridge, owned by Chester County, located on W. Cedarville Road between Creek Road and Dogwood Court in North Coventry Township was closed on March 16, 2022, after an annual engineering inspection identified severe deterioration requiring an immediate closure of the bridge.

Township officials are in communication with Chester County who have advised they are currently assessing the condition of the bridge and evaluating a time frame for reopening.

In response, the Township has coordinated with Chester County to implement the following Detour Plan. Please note residents who live on the following roads will continue to have access for the duration of the closure. The Township is coordinating with Fire/EMS, OJRSD, and relevant authorities to meet response needs. This detour plan will remain in effect until further notice and will be continually evaluated for optimal traffic flow.

Detour Plan:

>>>Traffic throughout the Township, east and west, are directed to travel via Temple Road.

>>>W. Cedarville Road from Catfish Lane to Sheephill Road is CLOSED.

>>>The entire length of Creek Road from W. Cedarville Road to Sheephill Road is CLOSED.

>>>Catfish Lane from Temple Road to the intersection of Valley View Road and Catfish Lane is CLOSED.

The Township recognizes the PennDOT closure of State Route 724 between Catfish Lane and Laurelwood Road, which was due to culvert failure in September of 2021, has impacted local roads and our community. We remain committed to advocating for our residents in the advancement of these projects and implement these measures in an effort to sustain our road infrastructure system.

We appreciate the patience of the public at this time.
