Parks & Recreation Supports Landscape Initiative

The Township's Parks & Recreation Commission issued the following support for the Schuylkill Highland Conservation Landscape Initiative.

North Coventry Township Parks & Recreation Commission would like to thank and support the Schuylkill Highland Conservation Landscape Initiative. The Schuylkill Highlands Partnership’s focus to protect the natural and cultural resources, encourage economic development that creates a sustainable regional landscape and inspire people to care for, enjoy and explore the region is paramount to our mission. The support we’ve received in the past is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to working with the partnership in the future to achieve our goals within the community.

Goal #1: North Coventry P&R is dedicated to the creation of an interconnected trail system linking parks, open space areas, neighborhoods and significant destinations. With the completion of the bridge connecting the Coventry Trail to Cherry Hill Lane, our focus is now moving toward a connection between Kenilworth Park and the Schuylkill River Trail in anticipation of the development of the Chester County phase II construction of the trail from Parkerford to Pottstown, with the long term goal of connecting the Schuylkill River Trail to French Creek State park.

Goal #2: North Coventry P&R is dedicated to developing facilities that promote both passive and active recreation to improve the quality of life to our township residents and visitors of all ages and demographics.  We are currently working on a replacement of a damaged boat dock to restore access to the Schuylkill River at Riverside Park.

Goal 3: North Coventry Parks is dedicated to protecting, restoring, and stewarding our natural and cultural resources. We are currently evaluating how we can best protect and interpret the preserved woodlands, watershed and unique history of the 690 acre Coventry Woods, through our gateway Fernbrook Access to the park.

Respectfully,

Jay Erb, Chairperson
