[May 23, 2022] – North Coventry Township has announced the adoption of Ordinance No. 02-2023 Amendment to Chapter 194 Stormwater Management. This significant update to the township’s stormwater regulations was initiated by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Chester County for all municipalities within the county.
Township Manager Erica Batdorf collaborated closely with LTL Consultants, the Township’s engineering firm throughout a meticulous process to incorporate updated definitions and regulations. These revisions primarily focus on the technical aspects concerning engineering firms, grading, and stormwater submissions, as well as inspections of stormwater features to be installed in new projects.
To ensure transparency and gather public input, the draft ordinance was duly advertised by the township as a stand-alone document. However, no comments or questions were received during the advertisement period, and there were no questions raised during the subsequent meeting.
The adoption of Ordinance No. 02-2023 Amendment to Chapter 194 Stormwater Management took place at the May 22, 2023, Board of Supervisor meeting, with Supervisor Bill Soumis moving for its adoption and Supervisor Carrie Hipple seconding the motion. The resolution received unanimous support from the board, demonstrating the township’s commitment to effective stormwater management practices.
Township Manager Batdorf expressed her satisfaction with the outcome and announced that the newly adopted ordinance will now be sent for codification, a process that typically takes a couple of months. However, it should be noted that the ordinance becomes effective immediately upon adoption.
The North Coventry Township’s amendment to the stormwater management ordinance is a testament to the community’s proactive approach to maintaining and improving the quality of stormwater infrastructure.
