Road Department Annual Update
March 16, 2023
Presented by Erica Batdorf, Township Manager
Over the past year the Road Department, through Roadmaster Jonathan Mckee, coordinated with the North Coventry Municipal Authority to implement the Laurelwood Road water and sewer main replacement project. In coordination with the Authority, the Township elected to allocate funds towards additional paving necessary to improve Laurelwood Road from River Road to Route 724. Road paving was completed in Fall of 2022. In addition to this work, the road crew conducted base repair of several roads and reconstructed Fisher Avenue, paved portions of Union Avenue, Kerlin Avenue, River Road and reprofiled sections of Jones Road. The road crew installed the Riverside Park pickleball courts, prepped the Riverside boat ramp for
installation in addition to constructing an ADA accessible walkway and demolished the structurally deficient Sweinhart Pavilion to prepare for replacement at Coventry Woods.
Road tours were held April 13, 2022 and October 19, 2022.
The 2005 mower was replaced with a 2022 mower during this reporting period. Consultants completed the filing of a General Permit with DEP and related design/engineering for the replacement of the Chestnut Hill culvert.
