North Coventry Township Board of Supervisors Approves Grant Application for Kenilworth Park Playground Redevelopment
North Coventry Township, PA – At its regularly scheduled meeting on March 10, 2025, the North Coventry Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Resolution No. 06-2025, authorizing the filing of a grant application to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (PA DCNR) to support the Kenilworth Park Playground Redevelopment Project.
Chairman Jim Marks noted that the resolution was a follow-up to discussions at the previous meeting regarding upcoming grant opportunities for improvements to the park’s playground and access areas. The total cost of the proposed project is $280,000.
Township Manager Erica Batdorf provided additional details, stating that the grant application to PA DCNR seeks $100,000 in funding, which would partially offset the cost of the playground and access upgrades. The Township is actively pursuing additional grant funding to cover the full cost of the project.
In addition to this application, Township officials previously submitted a separate grant request in December 2024 for $220,000 to fund improvements to the tennis courts at Kenilworth Park. In total, North Coventry Township is seeking $500,000 in state grant funding to support the comprehensive redevelopment of park amenities at Kenilworth Park.
The motion to approve Resolution No. 06-2025 was made by Vice-Chairman Rick Scheler and seconded by Supervisor Adrienne Houck. The motion passed unanimously.
