At its August 25, 2025 meeting, the North Coventry Township Board of Supervisors proudly announced that the Township has been designated as the 87th municipality in Pennsylvania to be recognized as a Bird Town.

Heidi Shiver, President of Bird Town Pennsylvania, presented the Township with an official certificate during the meeting. She noted:

“North Coventry Township has been recognized as a community working to promote conservation and stewardship through sustainable land care practices, habitat protection, and the restoration of natural system function to create a healthier environment for birds, wildlife, and people.”

Bird Town Pennsylvania is a structured, statewide program operating under the Pennsylvania Audubon Council. The initiative partners with municipalities to address threats to birds through education, engagement, and habitat conservation. As an all-volunteer organization, Bird Town Pennsylvania provides resources and a collaborative network for municipal leaders and residents to create healthier ecological spaces where they live, learn, and work.

Board Chairman Marks commended the Township’s Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), stating:

“The EAC was instrumental in bringing the Bird Town program forward to the Board. We look forward to additional collaboration.”

The Board of Supervisors extended their gratitude to the EAC for their dedication and leadership in advancing this important initiative.
