North Coventry Township is seeking applications to fill the following Township vacancies:
Planning Commission
The Township seeks qualified candidates to serve on the Planning Commission as Member. The Planning Commission is a seven member advisory committee to the Board of Supervisors, making recommendations on zoning, subdivision and land development ordinances and plans of the Township as set forth by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code. The Commission advises on planning matters concerning the Township Comprehensive Plan, regional planning, land use, building, housing, and the environment. All members of the Planning Commission must be residents of North Coventry Township and subject to appointment by the North Coventry Township Board of Supervisors. The Township is looking to fill a vacancy in the position for an unexpired term ending December 31, 2024.
Zoning Hearing Board
The Township seeks qualified candidates to serve on the Zoning Hearing Board as Member and Alternate. The Zoning Hearing Board’s role is to provide a legal mechanism for considering appeals from property owners seeking variances from zoning requirements, special exception approvals, and interpretations of the regulations as a way to challenge the validity of land use determination. The Zoning Hearing Board consists of five members and up to three alternate members appointed by Resolution of the North Coventry Township Board of Supervisors. Members must be a resident of North Coventry Township and hold no other office in the Township.
The Zoning Hearing Board meets on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. on an as needed basis at the Township building. The meeting schedule is dependent upon submission of applications for the Board’s review. The Township is looking to fill a vacancy in the position of Member for an unexpired term ending December 31, 2026.
The Township is looking to fill a vacancy in the position of Alternate for an unexpired term ending December 31, 2025. The Township is also seeking additional Alternate members for new three year terms.
Historical Commission
The Township seeks qualified candidates to serve on the Historical Commission as Member. The Commission consists of nine qualified persons who serve in an advisory capacity to perform functions established by Township ordinance including the study of the Township’s historical assets. The Commission undergoes research, maintains lists of landmarks, buildings, sites, and neighborhoods. The Commission makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on historical resource preservation and coordinates with the Zoning Officer regarding properties located in the Historic Resource Overlay Protection District.
