Notice: Request for Voluntary Water Conservation
Effective November 21, 2024, the North Coventry Water Authority requests your immediate cooperation in conserving water due to the ongoing drought watch declared on August 1, 2024, for Montgomery and Chester Counties. We kindly ask that customers voluntarily reduce water usage by 10-25% and limit it to essential needs only, until further notice.
Your participation is crucial in preserving our community’s water supply during this challenging period.
Recommended Non-Essential Water Uses to Eliminate:
• Watering: Please refrain from watering lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, or plants, except by hand-held hose or container.
• Cleaning Paved Surfaces: Avoid washing streets, driveways, sidewalks, and garages.
• Golf Courses: Limit irrigation to tees and greens only.
• Ornamental Water Features: Turn off fountains, waterfalls, and decorative water displays.
• Vehicle Washing: Postpone washing any type of motor vehicle.
• Restaurants and Public Spaces: Serve water to customers only upon request in dining establishments.
• Sewer Flushing: Use water for flushing sewers solely when required for public health and safety.
• Fire Hydrants: Restrict use to firefighting emergencies only; avoid practice drills.
Water Conservation Tips for Your Home:
• Run dishwashers and laundry machines only with full loads. Use water-saver cycles if available.
• Regularly inspect toilets, faucets, and pipes for leaks.
• Install water-efficient fixtures like showerheads, toilets, and faucet aerators.
• Upgrade to WaterSense-labeled appliances, which are at least 20% more efficient without sacrificing performance.
• Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth or washing dishes.
• Water lawns only when necessary, preferably early in the morning or late in the evening to reduce evaporation.
• Use a broom instead of a hose to clean sidewalks, driveways, and patios.
Your efforts to conserve water will have a meaningful impact. Thank you for your cooperation and dedication to preserving our region’s water resources.
